Mystery of History Lessons 25-30

Sorry to be posting these 2 weeks at a time, I got way behind on getting them up weekly! Almost caught up!
Lesson 25  Legend of the Trojan Horse

For this we made a mock Trojan horse that can be found here:

Lesson 26 Ruth and Naomi

We just rolled up a newspaper and attached some paper bag pieces to resemble a shaft or wheat.

Lesson 27 Gideon

You need:  toilet paper roll
paper towel roll
3 coffee filters
yellow construction paper cut in shape of trumpet

Have them color the coffee filters the colors of fire.  Then stuff them into the paper towel roll.  Glue the construction paper onto the toilet paper roll and you are good to go!

Acting out Gideon's role.

Lesson 28 Samson

You will need a magnet, some nails, and something thick that you can write "sin" on.

Tell them the nails are like people and the magnet is God.  We can get to God easily when there is nothing to separate us from Him.

But, then sin comes into the world.

We cannot get to God with Sin.  We need Jesus as our Savior and as a mediator for our sins.

Lesson 29 Zhou Dynasty

For this lesson we made Millet Cookies.  FYI:  I couldn't find millet at Kroger's, so I substituted flour!

recipe:
1 cup millet flour
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup oil
1/2 cup water
2 Tbs applesauce
Preheat oven to 375.  Mix all ingredients together.  Make into balls and place on cookie sheet.  Let cool and then enjoy.

 Lesson 30 Samuel

For this lesson we did a couple of object lessons.

1st:  Sin makes our heart dark.  I had Conner name various sins.  As he did I added a drop of food coloring.  I shared with him that our heart gets darker and darker the more we sin.  But, if we repent of our sins, Jesus forgives us and gives us a clean heart. (Put bleach in cup)

Then I went on to explain that Jesus fills us with the Holy Spirit.  I took a 3/4 full glass of vinegar and placed it into a larger container.  The Holy Spirit fills us with love and peace that we bubble over and share the love of Christ with others.  To emphasize this, drop some baking soda into the cup and watch it bubble over!

Blessings!!
