We also talked about Ephesians 6:10-18  ESV

The Whole Armor of God
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Mystery of History Volume 3 Lessons 67-69

Lesson 67 John Amos Comenius

We looked at the Orbis Pictus on-line HERE

Lesson 68  The English Civil Wars

Lesson 69  Robert Boyle: The First Modern Chemist

For this lesson, we did an experiment on acid and alkali.

First, we put water in a jar and dropped a couple of raisins in it.  They of course sunk!

Then, we put vinegar in a jar and added some raisins.

we then put baking soda in it and watched.

The raisins started to rise off the bottom of the jar when there were enough air bubbles surrounding them.  They float to the top, the bubbles release the carbon dioxide, and then they sink to the bottom of the jar again.

Mystery of History Volume 3 Lessons 58-60

Lesson 58  The Thirty Years War

For this lesson, we brought out the legos!  The 30 Year Was started when 3 people were tossed out of a 50 foot high window in Prague.  The only way they survived (by the grace of God) was a pile of manure.

First, we measure off 50 inches.

Tossed from 50 inches with no protection.

Then, he dropped his 3 lego men from that point.  They fell to their death!

Tossed from 50 inches with protection.

Then, he let them fall into the manure, symbolized by our pillow!!  They lived!!

Of course, this is what happens when the 2 year old wants to play with the legos that are being used in a history lesson!!
