Welcome back to this months edition of The Poppins Book Nook! This month our theme was "What I want to be when I grow up"!! Be sure to visit the other co-hosts at the bottom of this post!
Conner is in love with airplanes right now! He is now thinking instead of being a farmer, he wants to be a pilot. Or, at least a farmer who owns a plane and flies a lot!!
We read the book Flight School! It is an amazing book that teaches kids how planes fly. If you stick around, I will be introducing a 40 week Airplane/Flight curriculum in late September. This will be done 1-2 days a week. So, if you are interested, make sure you subscribe and be ready to see it flying your way soon!!
Our first stop was the Dayton Air Force Museum!! This is a favorite of ours, and only about an hour away!

They have 2 cockpits set up for kids to climb into. This next one was his favorite! It is from a fighter.
Here he is practicing landing a plane on an aircraft carrier. Can you tell he has done it quite a few times?! Got it the first try!
For our craft, we made a plane!
You need a clothes pin, 3 bigger craft sticks (1 is cut for the tail and fin), 1 popsicle stick, and a wine cork. You don't need a wine cork, but make sure you put your propeller flat or it won't sit correctly. We put ours on a cork so we could display it.
I used the glue gun and he applied the pieces.
