Mystery of History Lessons 7-12

Trying to get caught up on posting with our Mystery of History!  I am posting two weeks worth this time.

Lesson 7 The Summerians

We did a version of Cuneiform writing.  We rolled out a piece of play-doh and then he wrote on it with pen.

Lesson 8 Tower of Babel

He always loves when we get to use Legos for school!

Lesson 9 Epic of Gilgamesh

We read these books for the lesson.

Lesson 10 Stonehenge

Building with Legos again!!

Lesson 11 Early Egypt

Building a pyramid and placing a mummy inside!

Next thing we did was dry some apples in various ways trying to see the best way to mummify things.

We learned that the gauze on the apple slowed the process down, therefore allowing mold to grow on them.  We determined that they would have dried the bodies before mummifying them.

Lesson 12 The Minoan Civilization

This is a volcano that we made awhile back.  We exploded it again to show what might have happened to the Minoans.

Blessings!!

Poppins Book Nook: The Three Little Pigs

First of all, let me apolize about not participating last month. We had all kinds of things planned! The day we had planned to do them, we got a call from our adoption agency that we were being placed with a newborn baby boy in 2 days!! Talk about a frantic weekend!! So without futher ado, introducing Ezra Caleb:
He is a month old now!!

The book we chose to read this month was The Three Little Pigs for our fairy tale theme!

First thing we did was make some story props.  I used craft foam to make these since I have an over-abundance of it.

First I cut the foam in ovals.
Then we cut out the eyes and added ears, nose, and teeth.

Then I added craft sticks to the back.

Next up was building our houses out of straw, sticks and bricks.

The wind was not cooperating today, so we just made them short.

Then we put the pig in the 1st house and the wolf blew it down.

Then we put the pig in the second house, and the wolf blew it down.

The wolf was not so lucky with the 3rd house!!

Our mess afterwards!!

Blessings!
