Art History Month #6: Georgia O'Keefe

This month we studied Georgia O'Keeffe

Week 1:

We read the book:

Georgia O'Keefe
by Joanne Mattern

For this week, I had him paint big flower.  He used water colors after drawing the flower.

Week 2

Georgia O'Keefe
by Mike Venzia

This week he did a construction paper flower project.

He folded his paper in half twice and then cut the petals out.  He did this twice so he would have 2 flowers.

Final project!

Week 3:

Georgia in Hawaii
by Amy Novesky

This weeks project was to make her Ladder in the Sky drawing.

First he used water colors to paint the background for the sky.  I then had him use a white chalk pastel to put stars in the sky.  He painted the ground on after the sky dried and then cut out a ladder and glued it on.

Week 4:

Through Georgia's Eyes
by Rachel Rodriguez

For this project, I gave him a red sheet of construction paper and had him paint it with different shades of red, orange, and yellow.  I told him all his strokes had to start from the middle and go to the outside.

He then cut a black circle out and made cuts in it to give it a 3-dimensional look.  Then, he glued it in the middle.

Finished project!!
